Jakob Ryce was born in Sydney and has lived in Melbourne for the past 15 years. He’s worked in a menagerie of jobs over the years, even as a clown for a children’s entertainment company before becoming a teacher. He studied literature at Swinburne University, receiving a Certificate of Merit for the best writing piece and recently received an award for his moving short story ‘One In A Thousand’ for the 32nd On The Premises short story contest. Jakob enjoys writing magical realism, speculative fiction and poetry (due for publication in Drunk Monkeys 2019) and has a particular interest in folklore and unexplained phenomena. He’s currently working on his debut novel, and no, it doesn’t feature clowns.
